A note for the parent

What your child had to do in this Real Numbers problem

This was not a watch-and-copy exercise. The student had to make 7 small mathematical decisions and correct any wrong turns before moving forward.

The skill being built

Reasoning, not answer recognition

Take each number's own remainder away first: the required number divides 12501250, 93759375 and 1562515625 exactly. Their HCF by prime factorisation is 54=6255^4 = 625, and the remainders 11, 22, 33 are all smaller than 625625.

The mistake we watch for

A wrong answer is useful evidence

Taking the HCF of 12511251, 93779377 and 1562815628 as given, or taking the same 11 away from all three. Either way the factor 55 disappears and the HCF comes out as 11.

What happens when a step goes wrong?

The choice is crossed out

The app does not pretend the mistake did not happen.

The reason is explained

The child sees the exact misconception behind that choice.

The child tries again

The app guides, but the student still makes the next decision.
